Dear diary, its Kora again i've been working as a servant and i've been trying to get involved listening to everything that has been talking about popular sovereignty and I had no idea what that was until one day this guy who came into the house that I have been working for, he accidentally bumped into me while I was cleaning the dining table. He was reading a newspaper article and he had underlined the word popular sovereignty. When we bumped, his piece of article fell so i decided to pick it up for him and that's when I asked what popular sovereignty was all about. He had told me that it was a document which settlers had the power to determine slavery terretories. I quickly asked him why he had underlined it and he said,"Because its unfair." I was astonished Im pretty sure he has been the one and only man who is nice and wealthy and actually cares about others, especially the slaves or people who don't have any rights like me, and other natives. I couldn't say no more I felt like there was still hope. If he thinks this way they maybe just maybe there are others out there who maybe, probably, most likely feel the same way. He gave me hope and I kinda felt nice for the first time. As I started to leave to the kitchen he followed and said,"I never got the chance to introduce myself, my name is Jack." I kinda felt awkward for a moment, but I politely answered, "my name is Kora."
Thats when I felt something different.
